Goex Cannon Black Powder is a special granulation for optimum Cannon performance. While Goex has improved manufacturing processes and material quality, they have manufactured black powder using traditional materials to provide the same great ignition characteristics and uniform speed that master shooters and hunters have relied on for over 200 years.
Warnings from the Manufacturer:
- Do not exceed the loads displayed in the reloaders guide.
- Never mix any two powders regardless of type, brand, or source.
- Never substitute any smokeless powder for Black Powder or any Black Powder substitute.

If you want the maximum theatrical effect for historical reenactments, accept no substitutes. This powder creates an incredibly dense, lingering cloud of classic white smoke and a low-frequency thunder that smaller granulations just can’t replicate. It makes our battlefield demonstrations look and sound completely authentic.

Never use small-arm powders in a cannon! Goex Cannon grade is specifically engineered with large grains to slow down the burn rate, ensuring safe pressures inside heavy iron and bronze barrels. It performs flawlessly in our yacht signal cannon, throwing a crisp, loud report every single time.

Whether we are firing our salute piece using a traditional cannon fuse or a friction primer, Goex Cannon powder catches the spark immediately. We haven’t experienced a single hang-fire or misfire since switching our society entirely over to this grade. Truly reliable American-made powder.

We only fire our town’s ceremonial anvil and cannon a few times a year for the 4th of July and Veterans Day. This powder keeps perfectly in a climate-controlled locker. Even after sitting for two years, the container sealed tight, kept out all moisture, and fired with a massive roar right on schedule.
